Neighbours ask
How does Persephone find and select books to publish?
Persephone finds books in every way imaginable, including recommendations brought into the office, publisher advertisements found in other books, secondhand bookshops, libraries, and by identifying classic quality books that are unaccountably out of print. The most important criterion is that the company only publishes books it completely and utterly loves.
Why are Persephone books grey?
Persephone books are all grey because the company believes grey is calm but not boring, serious but not sombre. The company had a vision of a tired person coming home to find a beautiful grey book waiting for them, and takes pleasure in how the books look and feel whether they are on an office desk or in a bag over a pram handle.
What is the origin of the name Persephone?
The name Persephone was chosen as a symbol of female creativity, as well as of new beginnings, because the daughter of Zeus is associated with spring.
How much do Persephone books cost?
Persephone books cost £15 each in the UK. They are sold mainly via the website but are also available in the Persephone bookshop and through a few other bookshops.
