About the business
Universal Works produces contemporary menswear combining modern fits with traditional construction. The company's first collection launched in 2009 when David Keyte, UW co-founder and director, started from his kitchen table with an aim to make real, honest clothing based on fit and good design.
The brand champions skilled, small-scale production, producing garments in both the UK and overseas with only factories they trust, admire and are proud to be associated with. Universal Works is about mixing ideas, understanding heritage and context, underpinned by contemporary needs and aesthetics.
Starting with sales to ten retailers, the company has gained a substantial following and is now stocked from Los Angeles to Seoul. The head office and web store are based in Nottingham, with three standalone Universal Works stores in London and Nottingham, plus partnership stores in Berlin and Birmingham.
